(Spring 2021) This magazine layout was created as part of a class design competition (one in a series of “battle royales” featuring 3-5 students competing to create the best design for a given prompt in just 40 minutes or less). For this competition, students were prompted to design a portfolio, booklet, or other print media spread that curates a story about greenness and sustainable architecture. Students were provided with a collection of images to use in their design, but were otherwise left to devise their own narrative for the competition. Students used Adobe Illustrator and competed live on Twitch.tv for an audience of peers as well as a guest critic who gave live commentary and judged the final designs. My design for a magazine “article” on greenness entitled “How to Invent a Color” won this round of competition, qualifying me to compete in a final battle royale later in the semester with the winners of other rounds.
