(Winter 2021) These sketches were created as part of an assignment to explain human behavior in physical space after one hour of observation in a public setting. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, observations were made through publicly available live video feeds.
These sketches used the feed at the Morosini Lion’s Fountain in Heraldion, Crete and show walking and congregation patterns throughout the plaza, as well as the tendency for dogs to capture the attention of transient passerby only (whereas people who have already stationed themselves will remain stationary).
In addition to being an exercise on visual representation of spatial information, the assignment emphasized the role physical space plays in shaping human behavior, and offered the opportunity to practice representing space from multiple perspectives. Sketches were done first on paper by hand, and later redeveloped in Adobe Photoshop.
